Security Using Embedded Computers

Before, ID cards are used to identify employees, serial numbers in vaults are used to secure restricted areas and bar codes are used to scan the purchased item and determine the corresponding price. At present, these old technology are now outdated by embedded computers.

The development of embedded technology has paved the way to a faster and more advanced security, data scanning and storage option. Embedded computers are now a part of the growing technology that may be used in several applications most especially for identification and security purposes.

To promote a better and safer security system, this technology is being developed in the form of Loyalty cards and RFID readers. Loyalty cards are not just your ordinary cards to contain personal information but also include a ticket to highly secured data or information or access to certain places that may contain the things you could ever imagine. Related to these cards is the card encoding system which is widely used such as in ATM cards where we assign personal identification numbers (PIN) before our account could be accessed.

RFID readers are another example that works hand and hand with RFID transponders where data and signals are being transmitted and read.
